Ippocalyptica I was starting to worry that Kafirun would never release a follow-up to 2017’s staggeringly brilliant Eschaton, but today we have much cause to rejoice, for new material is upon us! The Seed, The Serpent, The Scythe is the twisting, dissonant, aggressive, and high-tempo black metal assault that we have come to expect from Kafirun, but their music has never felt this full of rage before. If the rest of the new album is comparable to this track, then 2021 just became a lot more interesting! Favorite track: The Seed, The Serpent, The Scythe.

lyrics

The Seed, The Serpent, The Scythe

To enter in communion
with larvae leaving two forms behind,
the tomb gives entrance to
the promised land
where abominations take the form
and all sufferance is radiant
enveloped by nightside.

Lifted from the surface,
entwined, once was all.
As the loam we disappear
his likeness.
The serpent and the seed,
the scythe and in clay my effigy.
Waking disappears.

Lend your wings to contagion.
Embellished by the shadows.
Otherness is darkness divine.
Death the face of my reflection.
Devils will lift my feet.
Initiate glorious convulsions.
Magnify the void within me.

Fervent ravenous ascension.
Formless transformation.
Resonate beyond the surface.
The celestial emptiness aligns.

Suffering disappears beneath me.
Evanesce in totality.
The self becomes the imperfections.
Deprived of infinity.
Infinite all.

The seed, awakens esurient,
prey on all forms
until the flesh be none.

To the Dust.
